Down with the sickness

Been quite miserable the past week. I caught something and have been sick since, and it doesn’t help coming into the office and work all day.

But as I lay in my bed with my stuffy nose, coughing, and sore throat I was thinking… thinking about getting a new motorcycle. I’m currently eyeing some V-twins. I’ll be heading to Vegas in a few weeks and hopefully I get lucky, as in lucky at the tables, it should make my motorcycle-buying decision much easier. 😀

Inventor of instant noodles dies

If it wasn’t for this man, millions of poor college students would have died of hunger.

His most famous product, Cup Noodle, was released in 1971.

Its taste and ease of preparation – adding hot water to dried noodles in a waterproof polystyrene container – have made it popular around the world.

My Mini Arcade

Remember the days when you went to your local liquor store and dropped a quarter to play your favorite arcade game? Well, I remember. I dropped a whole lot of quarters. In fact, the liquor store made more money off that arcade machine than selling alcohol.

Over the holiday break I bought a mini-arcade cabinet on craigslist. It came complete with a joystick and buttons setup and monitor. The cab was built by hand by the guy who sold it. He is quite the carpenter as the cab is solid and can be easily be mistaken for a commerical-built arcade. As for the wiring… lets say he won’t be an electrical engineer anytime soon.

The system is equiped with a 10 inch CRT rackmount monitor, Competition Happ joystick (The ones they use in Street Fighter II arcades), and a Street Fighter six-button layout with three additional buttons for other purposes.

Since purchasing the cab I had replace the rear fan, some internal wiring, and the rediculous out-dated computer that came with the cab.

Update: I also posted a video review version. You can go HERE to see it in action.

Mirko ‘Cro Cop’ Filipovic in the UFC!

crocop

Who is Cro Cop?

Mirko Cro Cop is one of the most feared MMA fighter ever to grace the sport. Known for his destructive striking abilities, Cro Cop has a list of knockout victims all thanks to his infamous Left High Kick.

Cro Cop’s MMA career flourished during his tenure in the Pride Fighting Championships in Japan. For unknown reasons, Cro Cop has left PrideFC and has joined UFC’s Heavyweight roster.

This new addition to the shallow UFC Heavyweight division will make current Heavyweight fighter’s in UFC think twice about dropping weight or whether or not to continue their MMA career. I can imagine now. Tim Sylvia, UFC’s current Heavyweight Champion, has just took a shit in his pants.

Who cares?

If you’re a serious MMA fan who follow the sport internationally will know that Cro Cop ends his fight brutally. And that is what the typical American fan craves. UFC has always claimed that no one has ever died in a UFC fight. That might change in the near future as Cro Cop’s first fight will be in February.

What do you think?

Cro Cop is one of my favorite fighters with more skill and talent you can shake a stick at. His striking is beyond superior, and his takedown defense is world class. But he has never fought in a cage like UFC. That difference can be a factor in his style of fighting. Nonetheless, Cro Cop’s opponent will have other things to worry about then to use the cage to their advantage. Such has avoiding an 85 mph left high kick to the head.

Rocky Balboa

For those who aren’t familiar with the Rocky series this is the sixth Rocky film. The series carry the all familiar theme of an underdog beating the odds.

Rocky comes out of retirement to get back into the ring for some local low profile matches. But World Champion Mason Dixon’s (played by real-life former World Champion Antonio Tarver) management sees an opportunity to exploit Rocky into an exhibition match to boost Dixon’s low popularity ratings.

Unlike it’s 80’s prequels, this film carries a much better production value. Unfortunately, the final fight of the movie takes a big step backwards. Fast scene changes combined with HBO-type filming takes away the intense fight bouts seen in Rocky I – IV. Overall, this (final) Rocky movie was much better than I had expected, well, compared to Rocky V anything better wouldn’t be too hard to accomplish. Those who are fans of the other Rocky movies will feel the nostalgia for them after watching this movie.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone.

How’s your Christmas going?

I spent my Christmas eve eating a Wendy’s Chicken sandwich and some chinese food. I visited some friends and exchanged Christmas cards. I dropped by a relative’s house and met cousins I haven’t seen in over a decade, and also met some cousins I never knew I had. And this morning Rosco gave me a Christmas present by taking a nice fresh dump in the living room. >< “Rosco, bad dog!”

Enjoy the rest of 2006.

Happy Holidays,

The Pursuit of Happyness

I’ve always thought Will Smith was a one dimensional actor; the Fresh-Prince of Bel-air persona. It’s rare to see Will Smith play a role in which he can display his talented acting.

Smith plays Chris Gardner, a struggling father raising his son as his life seemingly begins to fall apart. Gardner take it upon him selfs to raise his son alone as his wife leaves them. Gardner’s life could be a textbook account of Murphy’s Law, as anything that could go wrong does go wrong.

Gardner’s display of heart and persistence makes this movie very inspiring. In fact, it’s one of the better inspiring movie that came out in a long time.
