“It’s the most wonderful time…”

This week was quite exciting. I got to go to the Panic! concert on Tuesday, and last night I attended the Strikeforce MMA event. Both were awesome events.

Christmas is getting close and many of my friends aren’t even done with their shopping. Luckily for me, I don’t do Christmas. Just not the shopping part. But the part were you hangout with family and eat lots of food, I do that. Sometimes.

Hope everyone has a safe year’s end and Merry Christmas, and for those anal-political correctness dick-holes, Happy Holidays.

Casino Royale

casinoroyale

Daniel Craig replaces Brosnan in the latest James Bond flick. Casino Royale is more of a prequel to all the 007 movies and it shows a glimpse of how Bond becomes an 007 agent. Craig plays Bond very well and all previous doubts about his ability to play the secret agent can be washed away.

Unlike, other Bond movies, Casino Royale doesn’t include as many hi-tech gadgets and gizmos. Even Bond is different. He is more brash and rugged rather than the suave and sleek role compared in the other Bond movies.

Casino Royale is tense and full of action, but the plot, solid at first, crumbles towards the end. Still, the movie is enjoyable and we can expect Daniel Craig to reprise his role in the next Bond movie.

My Titan Quest Prize

It came in yesterday. A signed copy of Titan Quest by the developers.

For those who has been wanting to read the prize-winning essay, here it is.

The Secret Life of a Conqueror
by Huy Nguyen

In the Tomb of Ramses, I slowly walk down the dark lit corridor. The heavy Thorny Maul glowing in the palm of my hand. A loud moan can be heard beyond the darkness. “Holy crap”, I thought to myself. Suddenly, a hoard of walking corpses swarms me. I swing my mighty-maul valiantly sending each of them into oblivion with each blow. With my Conqueror strength I bash the undead with my shield. Their remains explode into the air raining down bits and pieces of bite-size flesh. I turn around only to find a school of ethereal spirits bent on revenge for their comrades. I curse my enemies, “Bring it on you vile demons!” And before I can release my wrath and fury I feel a hand on my shoulder slowly shaking me.

“Huy, wake up.” A familiar voice said. I open my eyes and I am in a conference room with several co-workers sitting beside me. “What happen?” I asked. “Nothing, really. The meeting ended.” One of my co-workers responded. The four-hour lecture-meeting ended before I knew what happen.

Thanks to Titan Quest for providing me unproductive day-dreaming activities to make the most uneventful workday fly by.

As my co-worker and I walk back to our cubicle he turned around with raised eye-brows and asked, “Vile demons?”

Happy Thanksgiving!

Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone. Enjoy the wonderful meals and don’t eat too much. Save the left-overs for me. 🙂

Stranger Than Fiction

Will Farrell plays Harold Click, an obsessive compulsive mild-mannered IRS agent, whose life is dictated by an author writing her latest novel. The author’s voice narrates Click’s life and he is the only one who hears the voice. The narrator foreshadow’s and reveals that Click’s death is iminent which sends Click seeking for help to find out if this story is an actual tragedy or a comedy.

Unlike his usual over-the-top characters, Farrell’s character is simple and naive. Farrell’s facial expression and body language drives the comedy which aren’t knee-slappers but will keep you entertained.

Guitar time part 10

I finally got my camera back 😀

It’s been over two months since I did an acoustic guitar video. I got a ton of emails from people requesting certain songs and tabs for the videos I’ve done. I’ve gotten praises and constructive criticisms from them. Thanks! It can be quite motivating and at the same time nerve racking as I don’t want to accidentally bastardize any of those songs.

The song we got here is my acoustic cover of Fall Out Boy’s ‘Sugar We’re Going Down’

[File has been corrupted]

Sorry, I’ll have to redo the video another time.

Titan Quest Essay Contest

tqwinner

Titan Quest is an RPG for the PC. It came out this summer and, I’ve been playing it ever since. This hack n’ slash game is very similar to the Diablo series, but with much better graphics.

I submitted an essay for the contest, and I WON! Awesome! First place gets an autographed game of Titan Quest from the developers.

What are YOU doing?

I haven’t been posting anything interesting lately. Besides the Democrats taking over the Congress in last week’s election and Rummy resigning from the Secretary of Defense there wasn’t really much to talk about.

I wonder how many of you will spend your evening camping out in front of your local electronic store for a chance to buy the new PS3? Good luck for those who are camping out. Supplies are limited so even if you do wait all night you’re not guaranteed to get one.

I have a three-day weekend starting tomorrow and what makes this weekend so special is the UFC 65 event. George St. Pierre will be fighting Matt Hughes for the Welterweight Championship. I’m as anxious as a high school girl awaiting the results of her pregnancy test.

So who’s up for the new James Bond movie and a round of drinks tomorrow? (I was going to say something clever that included Martinis and the phrase ‘shaken, not stirred, but I’m too tired.)

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning

texaschainsawbeginning

Prequels are quite popular, but the downside is that you already know the outcome and the plot tends to be unoriginal. In this prequel you see how Leatherface came to be and how he got his favorite toy, the chainsaw. Similar to the first movie, a group of kids find themslves trying to escape the infamous Hewitt house

“The Beginning” brings nothing new to the table but more gore and more killing.

Saw III

saw3

This third installment of the gruesome horror movie makes it out right before Halloween. Tobin Bell reprises his role as Jigsaw killer. This time Jigsaw is in his death bed, but is still running his death games along with Amanda, one of his victims he has taken under his wing.

Saw III continues on it’s premise in pitting victims to perform deadly tasks to stay alive. This third installment carries a better plot and the gore is knocked up a notch. The scenes of the mutilating victims will make even a masochist squirm in their seat.

I rate this movie:
