Going Solo (Las Vegas trip)

Looks like I will be going to Las Vegas on Tuesday by myself. I’ve got a few suggestions on buffets to eat at and shows to attend. Anyone else have any more suggestions?

Yes, I’m going to play craps. My last dice-throwing endeavor could be considered beginner’s luck, so I’ve set aside a few bucks to gamble and hopefully I can catch another lucky streak. Cross your fingers for me.

The Best NES Games of All Time

Entertainment System. Simply known as the NES. The NES shaped the youth’s lives of its era, okay maybe not that extreme, but definitely did played a part in many young gamer’s lives. Here are my top pick of the 5 all time greats.

smb3

5. Super Mario Bros. 3
The third installment of the Mario series that set the standard for platform gaming. The unique levels and items that changes Mario and it’s gameplay made the game an instant classic.

excitebike

4. Excitebike
Simple, yet loads of fun. What made the game so much fun was the option to create your own track with your own custom jumps. Who doesn’t like jumping their bike 50 ft in the air then crashing horribly and only to have your 8-bit character run to his bike for another jump?

contra

3.Contra
Battling aliens with an assortment of guns couldn’t get anymore fun. The fact that it was nearly impossible to beat the game without using the infamous cheat code made it so memorable. Up, up, down, down, left… eh you know the rest.

zelda

2. The Legend of Zelda
Who can forget the little elf-like character, Link, battling his way through monster-filled dungeons and collecting a vast inventory of weapons and items. The Legend of Zelda was a game that even till today can be enjoyable.

mtpo

1. Mike Tyson’s Punch-out
Dodging jabs, uppercuts, and spinning Macho-man punches all to get to the Iron Mike Tyson. This wasn’t just any rock’em sock’em boxing game, you had to learn the way each opponent fights in order to slip through their punches to take them down.

Guitar time part 7

Here’s another Panic! song: “The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage”

These guys got some ridiculously long song titles.

Anyone interested in a Las Vegas trip?

I have a Las Vegas trip planned for September 5 – 7. My friend is now unable to attend and tickets are practically non-refundable, so I will be going solo. Anyone interested in purchasing my friend’s ticket?

Update: Nevermind, tickets aren’t transferrable 🙁

Guitar time part 6

But It’s Better If You Do’ by Panic! at the Disco

This is my attempt to play this song with an acoustic guitar. I think the chords sounds off, do you?

Size Matters…

dell2407

Especially when it comes the LCD screens. Check out this bad mamma jamma. It’s Dell’s 24″ widescreen LCD monitor. It’s sporting a resolution of 1920 x 1200. To compare, the IBM laptop has a 15″ LCD screen. The additional desktop real estate comes in handy when working with large photos or working with multiple windows.

Panic! At the Disco at the Warfield

panicatthedisco

Panic! At the Disco is playing at the Warfield in San Francisco this Sunday, and yes, I’m attending it. It’s also why I’ve been streaming Panic! all month. It also seems that my friend has two extra tickets. $50 bucks for each ticket. So if you’re interested feel free to contact me.

Wharf to Wharf Run

wharf

Here’s a picture of me running on Sunday. It’s a little blurry, but it’s me. The picture is a bit decieving, that’s not the finish line. It’s actually a quarter mile farther down the road.

Nintendo DS Lite and friends

What the hell is a DS Lite you say? Well, it’s a handheld video game system from Nintendo. The successor to the Gameboy Advance. The regular DS was released about a year and a half ago. And last month, a smaller and more compact version called the DS Lite was released.

The DS sports a touch-screen which makes it’s games very unique and fun. It’s button setup is similar to a Super Nintendo controller; four face buttons, two shoulder buttons, and a select/start button.. The DS also has a slot for your Gameboy Advance games. For those who still gripping your original Gameboy and Gameboy color games, you’re pretty much out of luck as the DS does not support them.

I’ll end there with the infomercial. Last month I picked up the DS Lite along with several other games, seven total by the end of the month. The games are great, and the DS Lite size is perfect. It can fit nicely in a back pocket (I doubt anyone would want to carry it that way) or slips easily into a hand bag or backpack.
